Look what happens if we plot the Anthropomorphic Personifications in The Colour Of Magic: we get a very scary #DataViz:
It really looks like 2 ghosts are there!! =)
In The Colour of Magic DEATH appears 35% of time compared to other antropomorphic personifications like Fate with only 16%? THAT makes you wonder…
The Lady beats Fate in the game they were playing and even in stats!
2% up for the Lady! Hooray!
Still, DEATH WHO ALWAYS SPEAK IN CAPITALS, besides being my favourite character in Discworld, is the winner!!
Don’t forget to leave a comment… what would you like to see in a data viz?
Ever wondered how many occupations there are in #Discworld ‘s Colour of Magic? Using some cool statistics I built a #DataViz for it:
Rincewind is admittedly, the only ‘Wizzard’ in Discworld and as our Data Janitors discovered, it takes 4 heroes (Bravd, Eric, Weasel and even Hrun!) to reach but a 7th part of Rincewind!
Discworld, according to Sir Terry Pratchett’s books, sits on four giant elephants carried by The Great A’Tuin, the world turtle that moves… is only mentioned 3% of the time in The Colour of Magic.
Ankh Morpork, its most important city is mentioned 46% of the time…
And then, there is an ‘unnamed’ continent… which is actually named 12% of the time!!
At least the stats don’t lie…
Did you know that Rincewind is mentioned twice as much as Twoflower in Sir Terry Pratchett’s “Colour of Magic”?
See for yourself… Death is only mentioned 2.5% and the brilliant sapient-wood made Luggage is only mentioned 2.4% of the time…
Size of the box represents the number of time each Character, Place, etc is mentioned in the book:
Did you know that in Colour of Magic, Rincewind ‘said’ something 26% of the time?
But only ‘looked’ 6% of the time, and ‘had’ 3%?
“…and the rest” you say? … well, after the analysis, you can see it for yourself!
Another way of visualising the data (or if you want to see each verb):
